Bought a Certified Pre-Owned 2023 RAV4 here in July 2026, along with their prepaid maintenance plan. My mistake, and I'll own it: it was pouring rain the day we picked it up and I never looked under the hood. I trusted the "Certified" part. Don't make my mistake. Three months later, on a road trip, the service-due warning came on. For the record, my wife hadn't driven anywhere near a service interval in those three months — a car that was actually serviced in July doesn't ask for service in October. We brought it in, the way our maintenance plan tells us to. Two hours later they walked my wife back and showed her the engine cover, chewed apart by rodents (photo attached), and explained that it was our fault because we live in a "rural area." Then they sold her the "fix." What roughly $1,000 bought was an ultrasonic noisemaker — I was asleep for that part, which is how we came to own it. The chewed cover wasn't replaced. Nobody inspected the wiring harness, which is the only part of rodent damage that can actually strand a car or start a fire. They didn't repair the damage. They monetized it. Here's the other problem with their story: the RAV4 is my wife's daily driver. It shares a garage with a 30-year-old Corvette with 18,000 miles on it that almost never moves — second photo, that's its engine bay, untouched. If an army of rats had moved into my garage, they would have eaten the car that sits still, not the one that leaves every morning. So Group 1 can pick one: (1) the CPO inspection and service they sold us on were never actually done, or (2) they were done, someone saw this, and they sold the car to us anyway. There is no third option, and both of them are theirs. I'm posting this everywhere I can in the hope of saving the next buyer the lesson I bought for $1,000. I won't be darkening their door again, and I'd strongly suggest you don't start.
